Carolina Kostner finishes short program in 8th place

Experience and endurance - the Val Gardena woman impressively demonstrated these qualities in her first World Cup participation since winning the bronze medal in Saitama in 2014. There will also be precious metal in this year's title fights, although the task will be much more difficult than in their last appearance on the big stage.

Kostner performed well in the first starting group with a score of 66,33. Italy's best figure skater of all time had a few minor mistakes in her program, but made up for them with a lot of class in the key moments. She put on a decent performance over the entire distance, thanks to which she was able to take the lead for a while.

At the end of the day, the woman from Val Gardena fell back to eighth position. The Russian prodigy Evgenia Medvedeva could not be beaten, who not only beat her Canadian pursuers Kaetlyn Osmond (79,01) and Gabrielle Daleman (75,98) by a long shot with a score of 72,19, but also took on a big mortgage the second world championship title of her very young career (she is only 17 years old).

The competition will be decided on Friday when the freestyle takes place from 17 p.m. Italian time.
