Carolina Kostner in third place after the short program

After the first day of competition at the World Figure Skating Championships in Nice, Carolina Kostner is in third place. A Lutz, which the Val Gardena woman only executed twice instead of three times, probably cost Kostner the lead. Ahead of Kostner are the Russian Alena Leonova and the Japanese Karako Murakami.
