Done! Carolina Kostner wins her 10th European Championship medal

Carolina Kostner is finally back on the international figure skating stage! After a strong short program on Wednesday, in which she collected 72,40 points and took third place, she showed all her skills in the free skate on Friday evening and delighted the jury and audience. The soon-to-be 30-year-old collected 138,12 points, only the 17-year-old Russian prodigy Yevgeniya Medvedev was better with 150,79 points. Kostner thus maintained third place in the overall classification and took bronze - even if she was ultimately only a measly 0,87 points short of Anna Pogorilaja's silver medal, who had finished third in the free skate behind the Val Gardena native. Medvedev took the victory with a total of 229,71 points.

Kostner was overjoyed at the end and was beaming from ear to ear at the award ceremony. The 29-year-old has had a difficult time and did not compete in competitions for almost three years due to a ban in connection with the Alex Schwazer doping case. But on Friday, Carolina impressively demonstrated how much is possible with iron will and constant belief in yourself.
