Homesickness: Daniel Grassl returns to South Tyrol

At the end of August, Grassl announced the following: “I will be leaving Neumarkt, the place where I have spent most of my life. I'm going to Boston and will train with Olga Ganitscheva and Alexei Letov. I'm ready to take the next step there." After a good 3 months, his interlude in the USA is already history. The 20-year-old from Meran explained his decision on social media as follows: “I would like to announce that I will no longer train in the USA. It was a very difficult time for me with all these changes and new challenges. I missed my family and my friends. The fact that they were so far away and there was an ocean between us was very painful and didn’t help me adjust to the season.” “I missed my family and my friends.” Daniel Grassl Nevertheless, Grassl was also able to take positive things from his stay in the United States: “I would really like to thank Aleksey and Olga for everything they have done for me. I loved training with them in this fantastic ice rink and meeting lots of new people. I am happy and grateful for this experience, it shaped me and helped me grow as a person and athlete.” A super talent From now on, Grassl will be training again in the Neumarkt Würth Arena. The Young Goose Academy welcomed him there again with open arms. Grassl has already achieved a lot in his young career. He celebrated his greatest successes with the bronze medal at the 2019 Junior World Championships in Zagreb and silver at the 2021 European Championships in Tallinn. At the Olympic Games in Beijing in 2022 he finished in a strong 7th place. The Burggräfler is one of the great hopes for the next games in Milan and Cortina (2026).
