The world's best speed skating juniors visit Ritten

Over the past two decades, Ritten has built up its status as a speed skating stronghold with several major events: the ice ring has already hosted the all-around European Championships for men and women twice, in 2007 and 2011. There are World Cup races for women and men in Klobenstein The years 1990, 1991, 1992, 1999, 2004 and 2006 were given. The juniors took part in the World Cup on Ritten in 2009, 2010 and 2012. The Junior World Championships also took place on the South Tyrolean plateau in 2002.

In February 2013, the world's best young speed skaters will come to South Tyrol again to host the World Cup finals and the subsequent World All-Around Championships.

The boys have to run the following four distances on all competition days: 500 m, 3000 m, 1500 m and 5000 m. For the girls, however, distances of 500 m, 1000 m, 1500 m and 3000 m are on the program. At the end of the Junior World Championships, the team pursuit races take place.

Around 120 athletes from 24 countries will compete in the two junior events on the 400 meter long artificial ice ring in Klobenstein. The field of participants will be similarly well-known as at the 2011 Junior World Championships in Finland.

In the coming weeks, a breath of international speed skating will blow across the Ritten plateau when the Dutch and Russian senior national teams set up their training tents in front of the Ritten Arena. They will arrive next Monday.

Since the conversion to the extended curve radius of 26 m for the inside track and 30 m for the outside track, the Rittner Eisring has been considered the fastest open-air ice rink in the world. Nothing stands in the way of a high-class Junior World Cup stage and Junior World Championships on Ritten.

Supporting program in a class of its own There will be a great atmosphere in the marquee at the Rittner Eisring on all competition days. It will be fueled by the “Seasideclubbers” on Friday, February 15th, at the start of the World Cup final. On the following Saturday, the Puster rock band “Volxrock” and DJ Zenti round off the supporting program. On the World Cup weekend, the DJs from “Top 6 Clu United” will heat up the atmosphere with the best sound in South Tyrol (Friday, February 22nd) and the band Vollbluat (Saturday, February 23rd). Festivities in the tent start at 20 p.m.
