Italian curling championship: Luttacher extends title series

The ESC Luttach I won its 16th Italian championship title in the men's team game on Sunday at the Italian curling championship in the Brixen ice rink in Serie A. In the final, the Ahrntal team had the upper hand against SSV Pichl-Gsies I with 15 bonus points, 39:22. SV Kaltern won the game for third place with 4 bonus points against EV Eppan-Berg with 39:22. Luttach I, Pichl-Gsies I, Kaltern and Eppan-Berg secured the 4 starting places for the next European Cup for men's club teams. Relegated to Series B are ESC Luttach II, SV Taisten, ESV Terlan and EV Niederdorf.

In the women's category, EV Moritzing clearly won the title duel against defending champion EV Stegen. The women of EV Moritzing ended a losing streak of 8 years and were crowned curling Italian champions in the women's team game for the 4th time. Moritzing clearly dominated the women's title fights and deservedly won the title. “We played very confidently today and didn’t lose a game. We are pleased to have ended a losing streak of 8 years and to have won the title for the 4th time,” said EV Moritzing captain Sonja Mulser. In the final, Moritzing won with 6 bonus points against Stegen with 48:16. In the game for third place, Lana won 4:45 against Mölten with 11 bonus points. Moritzing, Stegen, Lana and Mölten qualified for the next European Cup for women's club teams.
