Flavio Roda is the new FISI President - Three South Tyroleans on the board

Flavio Roda, the former coach of Alberto Tomba and race director of the “Azzurri” national ski team, was supported by the South Tyrolean regional association. The 63-year-old from Vicidiatico near Bologna clearly prevailed late on Saturday afternoon in the second round of voting against Lorenzo Conci from Trento, who was recommended by Erich Demetz and Governor Luis Durnwalder, with 55.538 votes to 40.278.

After the first round of voting, Roda was already in the lead with 37.434 of around 100.000 votes cast. However, this was still far from the majority of votes cast (50%+1), as Lorenzo Conci followed closely behind with 35.704 votes. The other two candidates for president, Carmelo Ghilardi (19.474 votes) and Lorenzo Noris (5.920), were hopelessly behind. They then withdrew their candidacy, creating even greater tension before the second round of voting. "I would like to thank everyone for the trust they have placed in me. We will form a competent team that is well aware of its rights and obligations," was Flavio Roda's first statement after the election.

Reinhard Schmalzl, Rainer Senoner and Alfons Thoma on the board For the South Tyrolean winter sports association and president Hermann Ambach, the election was a real triumph, because he not only nominated the president, but also Dante Berthod, the Val Gardena native Reinhard Schmalzl, Guido Carli, Alberto Piccin, Pierluigi Checchi, Marco Mapelli, Gianfranco Martin (athlete representative ) and Alfons Thoma from Vinschger (representative of the technicians) also eight of the ten board members. Only Berthod from Aosta received more votes than Schmalzl, while Thoma collected the most votes among the technicians. From the Conci list, only Rainer Senoner and Gabriella Paruzzi made it to the board. What is striking is that not a single representative from our neighboring province of Trentino is there anymore.

Alfred Jud from Olanger, Heinzpeter Platter from Vinschger, Enzo Calore from Bolzano and Karen Putzer from Welschnofen, who ran as an athlete representative, also had no chance today.
