The spectacle on the Seiser Alm continues

The snowboarders are in no way inferior to the freeskiers who took part last weekend and fought an exciting battle for the final tickets on Thursday. “Although some top stars are missing, that is precisely why the field is even more balanced and there is freestyle action at its best,” explains race director Tobias Pircher.

51 men and 25 women took part in the qualification on Wednesday. Unlike the freeskiers, 6 of the men qualified directly for the final. Those athletes in places 7 to 11 in the two heats will compete in an exciting semi-final on Thursday morning for the last 4 starting places in the final.

The first heat on Wednesday had a clear dominator: Hiroaki Kunitake (JPN) particularly stood out and secured the absolute highest score of the day of 94,75 points. He is therefore one of the narrow circle of tomorrow's title contenders.

Markus Olimstad (NOR), the winner of the FIS World Cup on the Seiser Alm 2, was there in Heat 2019. He took the direct route to the final and is therefore one of the title contenders again this year.

Excitement for the women too For the women, there were three absolute veterans in the starting field: Sina Candrian (SUI), Cherly Maas (NED) and Sarka Panchokova (CZE). Only Sarka Pancochava, who was 11, failed to qualify for the final, missed out on making it to the final.

Brooke Voigt (CAN) won the qualification with a top score of 72,38 points. So she has to beat her on Thursday, although she will of course do everything in her power to top her second place from last year. Program for Thursday Semifinals Men: 10:30 a.m Finals (Men & Women): from 12:30 p.m
