Now it's the turn of the ski acrobats

More than two months have passed since Silvia Bertagna and Ralph Welponer last competed in the World Cup. The two people from Val Gardena used the time off from racing to prepare as best as possible for the title fights in the United States in Livigno. Whether this has been successful will become clear on Thursday when the World Championships begin with the slopestyle qualification. In addition to the two freestylers from Ortisei, the Italian winter sports association FISI has nominated a youngster, Leonardo Donaggio. The trio is not one of the closest favorites in slopestyle, but they definitely want to make it through qualification. This won't be easy, as there are 50 athletes at the start for men and 24 for women. And what's more, all the superstars have registered for the World Championships, which is not common practice in the freestyle scene. However, the announced minimum goal is the final, which takes place on Saturday. Bertagna and Welponer expect their chances to be slightly better in Big Air. The 34-year-old in particular feels very comfortable with the discipline in question, which she demonstrated with fourth place in the World Cup race in Kreischberg. The qualification in Big Air takes place on Monday, and the final takes place the next day in the posh ski resort.
