The candidacies of Milan and Cortina were awarded the 2026 Olympics, but Stockholm came away empty-handed. The Swedish capital wanted to bring the Winter Games to Sweden for the first time together with Åre.

In addition to Stockholm, Sweden's candidacy also included Åre, Falun, Hamra, Södertälje and the Latvian toboggan resort of Sigulda. But hardly anyone is interested in that anymore - especially not in the selected Olympic venues for 2026, including Antholz.
