State squad of winter sports athletes presented

South Tyrol is a very successful winter sports country with countless medal winners at the Winter Olympics, World and European Championships, but also overall World Cup winners. The northernmost province of Italy hoards titles and medals every year and is one of the most successful regions in the world in winter sports. To ensure that it stays that way in the future, the South Tyrol State Winter Sports Association trains its most successful young athletes in the various state squads. From there, the majority of them then make the jump to the national team, where ideally an internationally successful career begins.

The state squads for the 2016/17 winter sports season were presented to athletes on Thursday afternoon. The flagship store of the sporting goods trading company was chosen because Athlete has recently become an official partner of the winter sports association. The association will be equipped with materials by the end of February 2018. The athlete will also be the head sponsor of the state alpine skiing squad in the future.

Nine state squads, 88 athletes

“I am extremely pleased that we can support young athletes. We hope that we can make a small contribution to a successful future career,” said marketing manager Heiner Oberrauch at the media event. “I congratulate athletes on this partnership, for which I would like to thank you very much. The state winter sports association is the most successful association in South Tyrol and has produced numerous top athletes. I am convinced that the company will also benefit from this cooperation,” explained a confident Hermann Ambach, President of the State Winter Sports Association.

The nine state squads in the sports of biathlon, cross-country skiing, alpine skiing, ski mountaineering, snowboarding, ski jumping and Nordic combined, natural track tobogganing, artificial track tobogganing and freestyle, which include a total of 88 young athletes, were then introduced.
