Alexander Legkov wins the Tour de Ski - Clara 3rd on the Cermis

Before the last and probably toughest Tour de Ski stage on the Cermis, four athletes still had a chance of overall victory: Legkov, his compatriot Maxim Vylegzhanin, the Swiss Dario Cologna and Petter Northug from Norway. This quartet ran together until the fourth split and the 7,1 kilometer mark. Then Legkov fired up the turbo and built up a lead of almost 20 seconds over Cologna on the one-kilometer climb.

With 600 meters to go, Legkov was 26,7 seconds ahead of Cologna and more than half a minute ahead of Vylegzhanin. This meant that the last stage and thus also the battle for the overall victory was decided.

In the end, Alexander Legkov recorded a winning time of 31.03,4 minutes, which also meant he took overall victory in this year's Tour de Ski. Three-time overall winner Cologna was able to make up ground on the steep final climb, but ended up second, 18,7 seconds behind. Vylegzhanin finished the stage race in third place, Northug came fourth. The Norwegian, who wanted to fulfill his dream of an overall Tour de Ski victory, didn't even make it onto the podium.

Clara strong on the Cermis - third place and second World Cup podium of the season Giorgio Di Centa achieved a respectable success. The 40-year-old was the best “Azzurro” in eighth place overall. Like Di Centa, Thomas Moriggl was able to make up a few positions in the overall ranking and finished the Tour de Ski in 25th place, just ahead of Roland Clara (30th) and Dietmar Nöckler (31st).

In the individual rankings of the last race of the Tour de Ski, Roland Clara and Thomas Moriggl finished very high up. Clara came third and was only beaten by the Swede Hellner and the Canadian Babikov. The Pusterer achieved his second World Cup podium of the current season. Moriggl ended up in fifth place. The Tour de Ski 2012/13 ended on a happy note for these two cross-country skiers.

Alexander Legkov wins the Tour de Ski - Clara 3rd on the Cermis

The Russian Alexander Legkov won the seventh edition of the Tour de Ski, the toughest stage race in cross-country skiing, on Sunday afternoon. Roland Clara achieved a respectable success. The Reischacher achieved the third fastest time of the day in the ascent race to the Cermis.
