Everything prepared for the 36th Gsieser Tal Run

The 36th edition of the Gsieser Tal Run is something special. There are two races on the program again this year. While the classic race over 2 or 42 kilometers takes place on Saturday, the cross-country skiers compete in the freestyle race over 30 or 42 km on Sunday.

World champions and Olympic champions have already taken part in the Gsieser Tal Run; last year, Yevgeny Dementjew, the Russian 2006 Olympic champion in the classic technique, and the “Azzurro” Silvio Gardener won in the free style.

Due to the Nordic World Ski Championships, which will take place in Seefeld in North Tyrol from February 19th, some top stars will be at the start in the Gsieser Valley again this year. Among others, the Russian Sergei Ustyugov has already announced his participation and will use the Gsieser Tal Run as preparation for the World Cup.

Cross-country ski trails already ready – new starting area Due to the heavy snowfall of the past few days, the cross-country trails are already in perfect condition over the entire distance. It was only recently decided that the starting area would be moved 400 meters towards St. Martin, which will particularly benefit amateur athletes as the start will be on flat ground.

The new starting area also makes the RAI broadcast even more exciting and attractive for television viewers. In total, state television broadcasts around 3 hours, including one and a half hours live, from Casies.
