The Tour de Ski is coming back to Dobbiaco at the beginning of January

Toblach has become an integral part of the Tour de Ski calendar. For the sixth time in a row, the most important cross-country skiing stage race is coming to Alta Pusteria this winter. Over the years, the event, whose OK team is characterized by great organizational skills, has enormously increased the popularity of the towns around the Nordic Arena. “Everything we achieved was only possible because everyone worked together and pulled together,” explains OK President Herbert Santer. “I have to thank FISI, the local authorities, the Nordic Arena and the many sponsors who actively support us every year. A special thank you also goes to all our volunteers who spare no effort and contribute a significant part to the international success of the event. Times have changed quickly. It is becoming increasingly difficult to host events of this magnitude. At the same time, it is also important that they are done. Organizing such a major event is also a great advertisement for the Alta Pusteria,” Santer continued.

A total of two stages of the Tour de Ski 2015 will be held on South Tyrolean soil this winter. On Wednesday, January 7th, the men's 10 km race (13 p.m.) and the women's 5 km race (15.30:8 p.m.) will be held in classic technique. One day later, on January 12.15th, the pursuit competitions are on the program. From 35 p.m. the men will take part in the 15.30 kilometer long distance race from Cortina to Dobbiaco. At 15:XNUMX p.m. the women will complete a XNUMX km race in the Nordic Arena. “The collaboration between Cortina and Dobbiaco provides the basis for this unique event. The Tour de Ski is a perfect opportunity to draw the attention of the sports world to us,” explained Marco Ghedina, the sports advisor for the Belluno luxury resort, at the press conference in Bolzano.

As every year, the competitions this year will be accompanied by a rich and varied supporting program. Free entry to the Nordic Arena was also maintained throughout the entire event. “If you entrust organizing committees like the one in Dobbiaco with the organization of such an event, you are undoubtedly not making a mistake. Fantastic cross-country ski trails and the presence of the best athletes in their field certainly create a unique atmosphere,” said FISI Vice President Alberto Piccin.
