Dietmar Nöckler as the beaming winner. The man from Bruneck completed a distance of 42 kilometers. Almost 1000 cross-country skiers took part in the “Gsieser”.

Dietmar Nöckler on the trail of “Father Rotbart” Haspinger

As his hands reached up to the sky at the finish of the Gsiesertal Run, winner Dietmar Nöckler remembered the valley's most famous son, the Capuchin Father Joachim Hastiger, who was nicknamed "Father Rotbart" after his victory against the Bavarian and French troops at Bergisel in 1809 . Nöckler appeared just as combative and determined on Saturday.
