Dürr accuses ex-trainer of being EPO supplier

According to information from the ARD doping editorial team, Dürr accused his long-time boss of having acted as a doping agent in the run-up to the 2014 Winter Games.

“What we can confirm is that our client stated in the police interviews that he received doping preparations from Gerald Heigl in the competition seasons immediately before Sochi 2014, in particular Epo preparations,” said Dürr’s lawyer Max Rammerstorfer in the ARD morning magazine. Heigl is also said to have known about Dürr's blood doping treatments from the beginning and actively coordinated his training plans accordingly.

All of Mr. Dürr’s allegations are completely baseless, and my client will also take legal action against them.”

Dürr's statements become even more explosive with a view to a civil trial taking place on Monday: The Innsbruck regional court is reviewing an interim injunction against Dürr obtained by the Austrian Ski Association (ÖSV). Heigl looked after exposed doping offenders Heigl officially left the ÖSV in April 2017 at his own request. He had been the cross-country skiers' head coach since 2011, but then came under pressure in the wake of several doping cases. Heigl was Dürr's coach when he was caught with Epo during the 2014 Olympics, as well as coach of Harald Wurm, who received a four-year doping ban at the end of 2015.

After his departure from the ÖSV, Heigl looked after cross-country skier Max Hauke, among others. Hauke was caught doping blood during “Operation Aderlass” during the Nordic World Ski Championships in Seefeld in February.

Dürr initiated the investigation into the World Cup with his statements in an ARD program in mid-January. The Erfurt doctor Mark S. and several of his accomplices were arrested for doping practices.
