Everything is prepared for the 35th Gsieser

This is the 35th edition of the renowned sporting event, which has never had to be canceled in its three and a half decade history - one of the unique selling points of the Gsieser Tal Lauf in Europe.

This year's edition of the Gsieser promises to be a particularly successful one due to the excellent snow situation. After all, the cross-country ski trail on which the 30 and 42 kilometer races are held has been in operation along its entire length for many weeks. Numerous amateur athletes took advantage of this circumstance to prepare as best as possible for the 35th Gsieser.

OC boss Walter Felderer and his dedicated team are already looking forward to the starting signal for the classic races on Saturday at 10.10:2000 a.m. “Everything is prepared here in Casies. We are ready and looking forward to the more than 30 participants from over 100 different nations. Of course there is still a lot to do, but overall the preparations have been completed. In the coming days it will mainly be about fine-tuning,” explains Felderer. Sunday's freestyle races will be broadcast directly on Rai Sport for 9 minutes. The start is therefore a little earlier than usual, at XNUMX a.m.

Around 450 volunteers will do everything they can next weekend to ensure that the Gsieser Tal Run runs smoothly as usual. “I would like to thank everyone who is contributing to the success of the Gsieser again this year. They are one of the most important pillars on which the success of our unique cross-country skiing event is built. Year after year, the participants expressly praise the warmth and helpfulness of our large cross-country skiing family and that makes me incredibly proud,” continues Felderer.

Is Petter Northug coming?

Numerous top athletes have registered for the 35th Gsieser, such as the Russians Sergei Ustyugow and Yevgeny Dementyev, the Swede Robert Eriksson, the Austrian Thomas Steurer and the “Azzurro” Sergio Bonaldi. In the women's category, three former Gsieser winners are at the start: Antonella Confortola and the Germans Renate Forstner and Franziska Müller. With Petter Northug, OC boss Walter Felderer may even be able to welcome one of the most influential personalities on the international cross-country skiing scene to the Casies Valley. He has already obtained information about the race and will decide at short notice whether to take part.

There is also good news for all amateur athletes: registrations are still possible on site on both race days. This means that even those who decide at short notice have the opportunity to experience the fascination of Gsieser Tal Lauf up close.
