Cross-country skiing: Johaug also dominates the fourth distance race

Beitostolen (SID) Cross-country skier Therese Johaug continues to go from victory to victory after her doping ban. The 30-year-old was in a class of her own at her home race in Beitostölen, Norway, over 15 kilometers and also won the fourth distance race of the World Championships winter. As the best German, Katharina Hennig (Oberwiesenthal) took another World Cup point in 30th place. In the fight against the clock, Johaug was ahead at every split time; at the finish, the seven-time world champion had a clear lead of 1:05,9 minutes over the three-time Olympic champion Charlotte Kalla from Sweden. Third place in the freestyle went to the Norwegian Ingvild Flugstad Östberg (+1:06,2). "This is my place, I love Beitostölen. There were beautiful conditions with all the snow. After last weekend I was very tired, but luckily I recovered well," said Johaug, who took her lead in the overall World Cup with 500 points expanded. From a German perspective, in the first World Cup in Beitostölen since 2009, only Hennig (+3:38,8) made it into the points, but the 15-year-old clearly missed the top 22 and thus half of the World Cup standard. The second German starter Julia Belger (Oberwiesenthal/+4:41,7) had to be content with 44th place.
