Justyna Kowalczyk loses valuable time in the individual race

Kowalczyk, who enjoyed today's race with lots of ascents and descents, started 39 seconds ahead of Petra Majdic (Slovenia), 1.08:1.09 minutes over Charlotte Kalla (Sweden), 1.13:XNUMX over Arianna Follis and XNUMX:XNUMX over Marianna Longa (both Italy). . She was able to keep her pursuers at bay until the last lap, but then Arianna Follis, Marianna Longa and Charlotte Kalla turned on the turbo. Meter by meter, the Italian-Swedish trio made up for Kowalczyk and in the end the small group had caught up with the overall leader of the Tour de Ski by around 40 seconds. Follis came second in the individual race over 15 kilometers, 22,2 seconds behind, while Longa came third (22,6). This means that the Tour de Ski for women remains exciting after six of eight stages.

Petra Majdic fell slightly behind in the overall ranking. The Slovenian, who won the sprint confidently yesterday, came fifth today, 36,4 seconds behind Kowalczyk. Due to Kowalczyk's time bonus, the gap in the overall standings is now 51,5 seconds.

The women's individual race was the last competition in South Tyrol of this year's Tour de Ski. The most important stage race for cross-country skiers will continue this weekend in Fiemme Valley after a rest day on Friday.
