Combination: Rießle eighth after jumping - Riiber leads

Oslo (SID) Team Olympic champion Fabian Rießle is the only German combined athlete with a top placing in sight at the World Cup in Oslo. The 27-year-old is in eighth place after jumping on Holmenkollen and starts the ten-kilometer cross-country skiing 1:03 minutes behind the leading Norwegian Jarl Magnus Riiber (13.00 p.m./ZDF and Eurosport). The best DSV starter is initially Manuel Faißt (Baiersbronn/+0:46) in fourth place, but Faißt is considered a weaker runner. The two German individual Olympic champions were disappointing: Eric Frenzel (Oberwiesenthal/+1:50) and Johannes Rydzek (Oberstdorf/+1:55) are only in 14th and 17th place. "The gap is pretty big. There isn't much left more," said Rydzek on ZDF. The Allgäu native will also lose points in the fight for the overall World Cup; he is currently in third place. Team Olympic champions Vinzenz Geiger (Oberstdorf/+2:30) and Björn Kircheisen (Johanngeorgenstadt/+2:51) follow even further back in places 29 and 36. It was time to say goodbye for Mikko Kokslien. The Norwegian completed the last competitive jump of his career on his 33rd birthday and was waved off by his little daughter Vilja. Kokslien won World Cup silver with the team in 2015 and 2017.
