Cross-country skiing legend defends Bolshunov: “I understand him”

One of the most successful cross-country skiers of all time and current president of the Russian Cross-Country Skiing Federation, Elena Välbe, defended Alexander Bolshunov after his freak out.

Bolshunov was clearly stymied, and several times. He can't continue running on the boards. The Finnish relay team should be disqualified. Bolshunov misbehaved completely, hitting and stabbing, not even in the air, and you don't do jostling. But with a young person, something can go wrong in the heat of the moment. The Finn was visibly happy with your action in the video, which is not something you do either. Apparently the northerners think they are allowed to do a lot, you see quite often how athletes from other nations are hindered in competition (like Wierer last year)
