Show of power by Pellegrino at the start of the Tour de Ski

Pellegrino made his way through the quarter and semi-finals in a confident manner, and the tactician played his trump cards in the final. In the first lap of the 1,5-kilometer circuit, the 30-year-old gave way to the two Frenchmen before firing up the turbo at the beginning of the final lap. Pellegrino shook off the French Juve Richard and Lucas Chanavat before the first climb, and Pellegrino kept the Russian co-favorite Alexander Bolshunov at a distance. Bolshunov's final attack was toothless, Pellegrino celebrated an unchallenged opening victory. For Michael Hellweger from Sarner, the quarter-finals were the final stop; he ended up in 23rd place behind his teammate Francesco Di Fabiano. Bad luck for Switzerland In the women's category, Swede Linn Svahn won clearly against Jessie Diggins (USA) and compatriot Frida Karlsson. Co-favorite Nadine Fähnrich was unlucky in the final; the local hero fell in the penultimate corner in third place after a power struggle with the Slovenian Anamarija Lampic. Lampic, who finished second, was subsequently shown a yellow card because of the incident and was ranked 3th.
