Toblach-Cortina: Scandinavians dominate classic races

A total of 905 athletes took part in today's classic race. The 32 km route started in Braies, continued to Niederdorf, to Toblach, into the Hohlensteintal and back to the finish line in Toblach in the Nordic Arena. A shortened route compared to the original route, which could not be offered due to difficult weather conditions. However, the slopes were in perfect condition, even despite the difficult snow conditions.

In the men's category, the Norwegians achieved a triple victory: John Kristian Dahl, Tord Asle Gjerdalen and Petter Eliassen, leader of the VISMA Ski Classics. The three athletes were always parallel in the race and only at the end did Eliassen pull ahead and only Gjerdalen could follow him. It was only on the home straight of the Nordic Arena Toblach that Gjerdalen was able to prevail. Second place of honor went to Eliassen, followed by John Kristian Dahl, 26 seconds behind. The first Italian to cross the finish line was Loris Frasnelli in 32nd place.

In the women's race, Britta Norgren was able to secure victory in the last few meters. Only the Swiss Seraina Boner and the Japanese Ishida Masako managed to follow the pace of the leaders of the Visma Ski Classics.

The second race of the Dobbiaco-Cortina cross-country skiing event will take place on Sunday. The same route is followed but in free technique. Starts at 10.00 a.m. in Braies.
