Toblach welcomes the cross-country skiing elite

The trails have been drawn. On the first day of competition, the skating races will take place. The women cover 10 km, the men 15 km. The pursuit race takes place on Sunday. The distances for women and men remain the same. The pursuit race is a new format that should make cross-country skiing more attractive. The new 5 km route, christened “Nathalie”, has gradients of up to 18% that will demand everything from the athletes. After the World Cup weekend in Toblach, the Tour de Ski starts, which kicks off in Lenzerheide, Switzerland, on December 30th. Further stops are Oberstdorf (Germany) and the Fiemme Valley. The conclusion of the series, which consists of a total of 7 races, also takes place there.

Over 200 athletes from 29 nations will be at the start in Toblach. The cross-country skiing stars Niklas Dyrhaug, Finn Haagen Krogh, Martin Johnsrud Sundby, but also Manificat, Ustiugov, Bolshunov, Krüger, Cologna and Hellner will take part in this World Cup race. For the women, Oestberg, Haga and Weng will be the main focus, albeit Bjoergen. Kalla and Nilsson should not be underestimated. Dietmar Nöckler will be at the start from the South Tyroleans. The rest of the Azzurri squad consists of Francesco De Fabiani, Maicol Rastelli, Giandomenico Salvadori, Mirco Bertolina, Stefano Gardener, Fabio Pasini, Sergio Rigoni, Paolo Fanton and Claudio Muller.

Head coach Giuseppe “Sepp” Chenetti has called up the following women: Ilaria Debertolis, Anna Comarella, Caterina Ganz, Lucia Scardoni, Giulia Stürz, Virginia De Martin Topranin, Elisa Brocard and Sara Pellegrini. The live broadcasts on Rai Sport and Eurosport start on Saturday at 11 a.m. (women) and 13.30:11.30 p.m. (men). On Sunday, however, the broadcast starts at 13.30:XNUMX a.m. for women and at XNUMX:XNUMX p.m. for men.
