Toblach is looking forward to the big premiere

During the summer break, Herbert Santer resigned from his position as president of the organizing committee. Gerti Taschler, who had previously been part of the OK team for eight years, took over his role. He and his team have traveled across Europe in recent months to present the Tour de Ski in Dobbiaco to officials, athletes and winter sports fans. After visits to the FIS Congress in Zurich, the Winter Opening in Milan and the Forum Nordicum in Seefeld, her main focus is now on the final preparation measures.

One of the really big innovations is the celebratory opening ceremony on Friday, December 28th. This will take place for the first time in the village center of Dobbiaco, where the athletes will also be available to cross-country skiing fans for an autograph session. The “Mini World Cup Coop” will also be awarded on this occasion, which will be held by the international ski association FIS for the first time during all Tour de Ski stages. On Friday afternoon in the Nordic Arena, the young athletes have the opportunity to demonstrate their skills on the competition track and at the same time fully enjoy the World Cup feeling.

The big spectacle begins on Saturday, December 29th, when the Tour de Ski 2018/19 opens in the Nordic Arena. It is the first time ever that the starting signal for the global racing series has been fired in Italy. On the first day of the competition, the qualification and final runs in the sprint are on the program, while on Sunday women and men compete in the freestyle distance of 10 and 15 kilometers respectively. These fascinating races and the completely renewed supporting program will once again give winter sports fans a reason to pay a visit to the cross-country skiing event in Toblach.
