Toblach is ready for the international cross-country skiing elite

It starts in Toblach on Epiphany with the traditional stage as part of the Tour de Ski. The program includes freestyle competitions over 10 and 5 kilometers. This year these races will take place without South Tyrolean participation because Dietmar Nöckler was the only local participant to withdraw from the Tour de Ski early. But even without South Tyrolean athletes, the competitions promise pure excitement and spectacle.

Just eight days after the Tour de Ski, another highlight follows in the Dobbiaco cross-country skiing center: on January 14th and 15th, the cross-country skiing World Cup will stop in Alta Pusteria with a sprint and a team sprint. Here the “Azzurri” have a hot contender for victory in their ranks with Federico Pellegrino. Local hero Dietmar Nöckler, who is now fully concentrating on the World Cup weekend in Toblach, can also be counted on in the team sprint.

Pustertal Ski Marathon on a shortened route In addition to the World Cup races, two other cross-country skiing classics will take place in the coming weeks: the Pustertal Ski Marathon and the Toblach-Cortina fun run. The Pustertal Ski Marathon (January 7th) will be held on a different route this year. The 40th edition of the ski marathon had to be shortened from 60 to around 35 kilometers due to the difficult weather conditions.

It will take a little longer until the 40th edition of the Dobbiaco-Cortina fun run. The cross-country skiing event will take place on February 11th and 12th. Anyone interested has until Wednesday, February 8, 2017 to register for the fun run.
