The ten-day tour opens with a sprint competition in Lenzerheide (Switzerland). Due to the lack of snow, a sprint on a shortened route will be held on January 5th, and the following day a classic competition will replace the planned skiathlon.

Toblach is another stage location After a day of rest, the cross-country skiing stars are finally expected on Friday, January 8th at the Nordic Arena in Toblach, where they already held a World Cup stage in mid-December. In Hochpustertal the men and women have a freestyle race ahead of them. As has been usual for years, the Tour de Ski concludes with the stage in Fiemme Valley. The winners will be chosen in the ascent race to the Alpe di Cermis. Roland Clara and Dietmar Nöckler also want to play an important role there. The two Pusterers, who have not yet been able to really shine this season, are part of the eight-man Italian men's squad, which also includes Federico Pellegrino, Francesco De Fabiani, Maicol Rastelli, Mattia Pellegrin, Simone Urbani and Giandomenico Salvadori. In the women's category, Debora Agreiter from Val Badia can compete again in the World Cup. Alongside her, Ilaria Debertolis, Virginia De Martin Topranin, Lucia Scardoni and Greta Laurent were called up for the Tour de Ski.
