Tour de Ski: David Hofer shows an upward trend in Oberstdorf

Fulvio Scola was the best “Azzurro” in 16th place. Three places further back, David Hofer made it into the final ranking as the best South Tyrolean. The man from Val Gardena narrowly failed to qualify for the semi-finals in the preliminary round with overall leader Dario Cologna. Hofer showed a clear improvement in form and emphasized that he should be taken into account at the home race in Toblach on Wednesday. Roland Clara (39th) and Thomas Moriggl (50th) were eliminated early in the sprint race in Oberstdorf. The victory went to the Swede Emil Joensson, who relegated the Canadian Devon Kershaw to second place in the photo finish. Third place went to Dario Cologna, who remains the undisputed leader of the field in the Tour de Ski overall ranking. Roland Clara takes 23rd place as the best South Tyrolean.

While the Italian men's team is fighting doggedly for top ten places, the “Azzurre” have already established themselves in the top positions: After yesterday's victory, Marianna Longa took eighth place in the sprint and is still close to them in fourth place in the overall ranking Leading Justina Kowalczyk. Arianna Follis (8th) can also be found in the top ten. Petra Majdic from Slovenia secured victory on Sunday.

The pursuit races are on the program in Oberstdorf on Monday before the tour moves to Italy. On Wednesday there will be a freestyle sprint race in Toblach, on Thursday the men will run from Cortina to Toblach (35 km), while the women will run a 15 km race in Alta Pusteria.

Tour de Ski: David Hofer shows an upward trend in Oberstdorf

The Italian national team finished the third stage of the Tour de Ski in Oberstdorf with mixed feelings. While the women's team was able to largely defend its top positions, things didn't go smoothly for the men in the classic sprint race either.
