Tour de Ski: David Hofer sprints into the top 20 in Lenzerheide

In 2:39.04 minutes, Hofer achieved the 23rd time in the qualification and thus made it into the quarter-finals of the best 30 athletes. However, that was the end of the journey for the man from Val Gardena. In the final ranking he ended up in 20th place. There was nothing to gain for Dietmar Nöckler and Thomas Moriggl, who finished 38th and 94th respectively in the qualification.

The victory, however, went to the American Simeon Hamilton, who achieved his first success in the World Cup. The Tour de Ski overall leader Alex Harvey came in second, and third place went to the Norwegian Martin Johnsrud Sundby. The best “Azzurro” was Federico Pellegrino, who narrowly missed the podium in fourth place.

In the women's category, the third-placed team from Oberhof, Invild Flugstad Oestberg, prevailed. The Norwegian had already set the best time in the qualification and relegated her compatriot Astrid Jacobsen and the German Denise Hermann to the places in the final. With Gaia Vuerich and Greta Laurent, two “Azzurre” also made it into the top 12. As in Oberhof, Debora Agreiter fell by the wayside in qualifying.

A mass start race in classic technique (15 km men, 10 km women) is on the program in Lenzerheide on Wednesday.

Tour de Ski: David Hofer sprints into the top 20 in Lenzerheide

After the rest day on Monday, the Tour de Ski continued on the last day of 2013 in Lenzerheide with a sprint race over 1,5 km. Of the South Tyroleans, only David Hofer from Val Gardena qualified for the final phase.
