Tour de Ski started with prologue in Oberhof

For the women, the start of the Tour de Ski was dominated by the duel between Justyna Kowalczyk from Poland and the Norwegian Marit Björgen. This time the Eastern European was ahead in the battle of the eternal arch-rivals. Kowalczyk was fastest over 2,5 kilometers in free cross-country skiing in 7.03,7:0,4 minutes, Björgen 63 seconds slower. Hanna Brodin from Sweden was exactly four seconds behind in third place. Debora Agreiter from Val Badia finished her first race at the Tour de Ski in 37,8rd place, XNUMX seconds behind Kowalczyk. This made her the fifth best of the “Azzurre”.

The men's race, which was almost four kilometers long (3,75), also developed from the first meter into a duel between Dario Cologna (Switzerland) and Petter Northug (Norway). In the prologue, the Scandinavian was ahead in 7.58,3:0,7 minutes, leaving Cologna behind by XNUMX seconds. Meanwhile, the Frenchman Maurice Manificat, who appears third in the classification, was four seconds slower.

Of the four South Tyroleans who took part, David Hofer (+21,4) took 32nd place, two places better than Thomas Moriggl (+22,2). Roland Clara, who is expected to climb up in the overall rankings as the Tour de Ski continues, took 43rd place (+24,1) and Dietmar Nöckler (+26,2) finished the first race in the most important stage race in cross-country skiing in 53rd place.

There will be a pursuit race in Oberhof on Friday before the entourage moves on to Oberstdorf. The Tour de Ski will be coming to South Tyrol on January 3rd, 4th and 5th 2012. In Dobbiaco there are three races for men and just as many for women. On Tuesday, January 3rd there will be an individual race over three kilometers for women and five kilometers for men in the Nordic Arena. The next day, on Wednesday, January 4th, the exciting sprint races will take place before the “classic” for men, the individual race from Cortina to Dobbiaco over 5 kilometers, takes place on Thursday, January 35th.

Meanwhile, the women will compete in a 15 km race in Dobbiaco. This means that the South Tyrolean races are the heart of the Tour de Ski 2011/12, because a preliminary decision will probably be made in Hochpustertal.
