World-class cross-country skiing in double form

It's that time again on the third weekend in December, when Therese Johaug, Dario Cologna and Co. will be guests in South Tyrol again. The fourth stage of the 2015/16 World Cup season will take place in Toblach. “Since the Tour de Ski program in Toblach was shortened, we were able to add two World Cup days to the calendar in return. “This is a very good solution because it means the Nordic Arena can be used even more extensively and consistently,” explains OC boss Herbert Santer. Two sprint competitions kick off on Saturday, December 19th. The following day there will be two distance races in the classic style.

The Tour de Ski has a tradition in Toblach Only a short time later, the Tour de Ski – the toughest stage race in the world – is coming to Toblach for the seventh time. On January 8th, the men will first complete a 10 km freestyle race before the women take part in the 5 km. “At the Tour de Ski this year the action will be concentrated on one day. Unfortunately, the race in Cortina and Dobbiaco is no longer on the program, but we will replace it with a fun run on February 13th and 14th,” said Santer, who added: “My medium-term goal, however, is to get Cortina back on board to get the ski tour.” But even without the spectacular pursuit race, fans in Toblach can expect an absolute sporting highlight. The president of the state winter sports association, Hermann Ambach, also knows this: “The performances that the athletes offer are simply impressive. I hope that numerous fans will take advantage of the free entry and make a pilgrimage to the Nordic Arena.” Regional Sports Councilor Martha Stocker, who has long been a regular guest in Toblach, has already announced her visit. “I’m already looking forward to the races. Two absolutely top-class events await us. “Everything around Dobbiaco is fantastic,” says Stocker. Dobbiaco's mayor Guido Bocher agrees: “The cross-country ski races are one of the mainstays of our event calendar. The entire village community is behind this event.” Andreas Trenker from the Toblach Tourism Association sees it similarly: “The ambience will once again be very special and provide great pictures on TVs around the world.”
