Zelger achieved his best World Cup result in the Aosta Valley

After Aosta's Federico Pellegrino and Francesco De Fabiani won one at their home World Cup on Saturday One-two celebrated, there were no top spots to celebrate for the “Azzurri” on Saturday. The best Italian was Giandomenico Salvadori in 17th place. Classic specialist De Fabiani fell slightly short of expectations and finished the race in 23rd place.

Stefan Zelger from Bolzano, who finished 29th in the sprint the day before, crossed the finish line in 24th place on Sunday. The 23-year-old achieved his best World Cup result in an individual race. Dietmar Nöckler from Bruneck, however, did not make it into the points. He finished the race in 40th place.

The Russian Alexander Bolshunov won. The Finn Ivo Niskanen came in second, while another Russian, Alexander Bessmertnykh, came third. Niskanen wins the women's event The Finnish Kerttu Niskanen won the women's (10 km). The Swiss Nadine Fähndrich came second (+3 seconds), the Russian Natalia Nepryaeva third (+12,6 seconds).
