Federico Pellegrino & Co. train in Antholz

While the World Cup group trained in Kastell im Fiemme Valley (TN) last week, Federico Pellegrino & Co. are currently in Antholz to prepare for the coming winter. There is also a South Tyrolean, Stefan Zelger from Bolzano. The other men who will be sweating in the Pustertal up to and including Friday are Francesco De Fabiani, Giandomenico Salvadori and Maicol Rastelli.

The main focus is on dry training on roller skis. To do this, the Azzurri use the route in the Südtirol Arena in Antholz, where the Biathlon World Cup will take place next year and the biathlon competitions at the Olympic Games in 2026.

From the perspective of the cross-country skiers, it is important to build on the strong performances of last season. Federico Pellegrino was able to claim two World Cup victories, with Pellegrino and Francesco De Fabiani even achieving an Italian double victory in the Cogne (Aosta) sprint. In addition, Pellegrino won silver in the sprint at the World Championships in Seefeld (behind the almost unbeatable Johannes Høsflot Klæbo) and, together with De Fabiani, bronze in the team sprint.

The past World Cup winter was also successful for Stefan Zelger from Bolzano. He was able to record his best individual result with 16th place in Cogne (over 15 classic). The 23-year-old also came 29th in the sprint at the World Championships in Seefeld.
