Eric Frenzel also won the second Nordic combined World Cup competition in Lillehammer (Norway). Mette a segno the double nella Gundersen di Lillehammer and with the trionfo number 33 of the carriera in Coppa del mondo accprcoa the proprio divario in classifica generale dal connazionale Johannes Rydzek who commanded with 330 points against 294 of the connazionale ma nell'occasione non è riuscito ad andare oltre il quarto posto.
