Gruber wins first World Cup gold for Austria - Costa is the best Italian

Bernhard Gruber was already in the lead after the jump. On the 10 kilometer long cross-country ski run, he distanced himself from the Frenchman Francois Braud shortly before the finish. The 32-year-old Austrian couldn't be denied his fourth medal at a major event. This is also the first title for Austria at this World Championship and the first individual gold ever for the red-white-red combined team. The German Johannes Rydzek, the world champion on the normal hill, won the fight for bronze against Magnus Moan from Norway. Meanwhile, the “Azzurri” around Vice World Champion Alessandro Pittin were unable to intervene in the fight for precious metal. The young man from Val Gardena performed best in the Italian team Samuel Costa away. After finishing 20th in jumping, he fell back to 22nd place in cross-country skiing.
