Before the mammoth season: Daniela Dejori has big plans

In the Val Gardena, many young people try their luck with ski jumping or cross-country skiing. “I believe in the 99 percent,” says Daniela Dejori from Wolkenstein. She decided on both and has been competing with the best in Nordic combined since last year.

At the World Championships in Oberstdorf, Dejori took an excellent seventh place. But in the spring she strained her ankle ligaments and had to take two months off her schedule. “Later I developed tendonitis in my knee. So I trained less in the summer than planned, less than last year. But now I'm feeling very good again. “I’m in a good mood mentally and physically,” reports Frohnatur.

Most recently, Dejori did jump training in Planica (Slovenia) and Predazzo. The Italian Championships will take place in Fiemme Valley on Sunday. Then we continue in Stams before “we train on snow in Livigno,” says the 19-year-old.

Cross-country skiing is her great strength, which is why she devotes more time to jumps. “The training is varied, which is exactly what I like about Nordic combined,” says Dejori, who has recently joined the army sports group. 10 World Cups this year, hope for the Olympics in 2026 Last year a World Cup took place for the first time, and this year there are already ten World Cup competitions. “I'm looking forward to it, the Nordic combination fascinates me. Cross-country skiing alone would be too boring for me,” reports Dejori. “After graduating from high school, the Nordic combined now has priority.” Daniela Dejori At the Olympic Games in February 2022 in Beijing, she will just watch, because Nordic combined is not yet an Olympic discipline for women: “I really hope that it works in 2026. Then the games would also be in Italy. But that’s a thing of the future.” Dejori likes to live in the here and now. During Corona there were plenty of online lessons in high school: “I’ve really had enough of that. After graduating from high school, Nordic combined now has priority. If I still get bored, I’ll start studying as well.”

Daniela can switch off at home in the great outdoors. “The noises, the landscape and the good air are simply the best way to recharge your batteries,” she knows. As a determined, consistent athlete, she can get the most out of herself, especially on the cross-country ski trail. If Dejori also manages good jumps, then even top ranks are possible. A passionate cook A great passion of the Val Gardena woman is cooking. Dejori: “Yes, it has always been like that. I'm always trying out new recipes. My favorite thing to make is lasagna.”

She found happiness in Nordic combined. The 2021/22 World Cup starts from December 2nd to 5th in Lillehammer. Other stations include Otepää, Ramsau, Fiemstal, Planica and Schonach.
