Olympic Games and jungle camp

Now that's really lucky, because there wasn't much missing, and the most important event taking place this year, namely the "Jungle Camp", almost overlapped with the second most important event. Because honestly and truly hand on heart: The incredible dramas that are taking place in Africa can only with difficulty be topped by the actions in Beijing with the best winter sports athletes in the world. A certain Harald Glööckler actually has to say goodbye to his cuddly pillow. Oh, my God, if only this goes well. Where does his strange head lie now? It makes you incredibly worried and almost a sleepless night. On the other hand, the wind that probably blows around the biathletes' ears during their shooting is negligible news. It's just the same as always.

These strange celebrities - although this term should be redefined at some point - have a completely different caliber of performance than, for example, a medal candidate who narrowly missed out on a medal. Anouschka Renzi, for example, I gather from the German tabloid that is following this strange meeting in distant South Africa with the necessary sharpness and attention, as if it were about a highly explosive political meeting between Putin and Biden, has handed in her earplugs. It was probably the case that everyone who was still there, who was allowed to be there, had to give up a luxury item so that everyone could get their dinner. I really like thinking about the Olympic Games in Nagano and Bjørn Dæhlie and the Kenyan Philip Boit. It was freezing cold before the start of the 10km race. Then rain started. I will definitely continue to enjoy every episode of the “adventures” in the jungle and look forward to the real adventures that will keep us on our toes. Given the rather difficult circumstances, we probably won't be able to stop being amazed. Either way. At least when it comes to the remoteness of the venue test and the isolation of the participants, the “jungle camp” and the 2022 Olympic Games have something in common.

The television landscape is colorful, but sometimes strange. The “jungle camp” in Africa will be replaced by the Olympic Games in China next week. Our columnist Sigi Heinrich has dealt – not entirely seriously – with the small but subtle differences between the two events.
