2 podiums: South Tyroleans excel in the sprint

After one so far mixed weekend In Sigulda (Latvia), the South Tyrolean lugers performed once again in the sprints. Above all, the doubles Emanuel Rieder and Simon Kainzwaldner: Thanks to a very strong drive, the Meransener and the Villandro raced to second place - at the same time as the Latvians Andris and Juris Sics. The only people who had to admit defeat were the Latvian duo Putins/Marcinkevics, who were a measly 2 seconds faster than the two runners-up.

Second place was a first for Rieder/Kainzwaldner: they had never been on the podium in the World Cup before. An outstanding performance considering that preparation for the season was anything but optimal due to Rieder's fracture of his metatarsal bone.

Dominik Filehner breaks his sprinting curse Dominik Filehner, however, took home the second podium place of the day. In normal He narrowly missed the podium in the single-seater competition , but the Meransener then finished second in the sprint. For Filehner it was the first top-three result in this discipline this season. In doing so, he once again underlines that he has finally made it to the top of the world this year.

The single-seater sprint was won by the Russian Semen Pavlichenko, who was 0,069 seconds faster than Fischnelller in the end. The Austrian David Gleirscher completed the podium (+0,074). Kevin Filehner ended up in 13th position.
