All South Tyrol for tobogganers

Italy's national luge team is firmly in South Tyrol's hands. All 39 positions awarded in the support staff and among the athletes are filled by local athletes and officials. The head of the national team remains one of the best tobogganers of all time, Armin Zöggeler. The coaching staff also includes former world champion Gerda Weissensteiner, who will be responsible for the juniors, and Mattias Schnitzer, who, among other things, also acts as an athletic trainer for skier Dominik Paris.

The men's squad is led by Dominik Fiwickeler, who is starting the preparation for the season as the driving force of the national team after his bronze medal at the Olympic Games in Beijing. The strongest doubles are still Emanuel Rieder and Simon Kainzwaldner, who narrowly missed out on the medal they were aiming for at the Olympics, but were still able to secure an Olympic diploma with a sixth place.

In the women's category, the young trio Nina Zöggeler, Marion Oberhofer and Verena Hofer want to offer the established athletes Andrea Vötter and Sandra Robatscher healthy competition.
