Armin Zöggeler is the FISI Athlete of the Year

Armin Zöggeler was honored on Thursday at the “Skipass” winter sports fair in Modena. Journalists, trainers and sponsor representatives have chosen the 40-year-old from Völlan as the Italian winter sports association FISI's Athlete of the Year. He achieved something historic with the bronze medal at the Winter Olympics in Sochi. He is the only athlete to win a medal in one discipline at six consecutive Olympic Games. But his track record is even more successful. Zöggeler is a six-time world champion, four-time European champion and has won the overall World Cup ten times. 59 World Cup victories (57 of them in the individual) are also a record that needs to be broken.

Every year the Italian winter sports association FISI organizes the Athlete of the Year election. This year Armin Zöggeler, who recently ended his unprecedented career, prevailed.
