Dominik Filehner races to his best result of the season in Whistler

Because of various transportation problems caused by a snowstorm on the Canadian prairies, the decisions in Whistler were all made in one run. The relay World Cup even had to be canceled completely due to the capricious weather.

Men

After a 15th place at the start in Winterberg and an eleventh place in Lake Placid, Dominik Fiwickeler achieved a single-digit result in Canada for the first time. The Mühlbacher came fifth and missed out on a podium place by just four hundredths of a second. The victory went to the American Tucker West, who prevailed ahead of the Austrian Wolfgang Kindl and the German Andi Langenhahn.

The remaining South Tyroleans appear further back in the final rankings. Emanuel Rieder and Theo Gruber tobogganed to 20th place, while Kevin Fiwickeler had to settle for 29th place.

double seater There were two South Tyrolean top ten places in the doubles: While Ludwig Rieder/Patrick Rastner finished the race in seventh place, Puster veterans Christian Oberstolz/Patrick Gruber finished ninth. The third local doubles team, consisting of Florian Gruber and Simon Kainzwaldner, took 17th place.

The series winners and overall World Cup leaders Toni Eggert/Sascha Benecken were once again unbeatable. The German duo triumphed ahead of their teammates Wendl/Arlt and the Austrians Penz/Fischler.

Women

In the women's competition, Alex Gough, a local hero, stood at the top of the podium. The Canadian relegated Natalie Geisenberger and Tatjana Hüfner (both Germany) to the other podium places. The two “Azzurre” Sandra Robatscher (16th) and Andrea Vötter (18th), however, missed a result in the top 15.

Dominik Filehner races to his best result of the season in Whistler

The Luge World Cup continued on the night of Saturday to Sunday (CEST) in Whistler, Canada. In the third stage of this year's toboggan winter, Dominik Fischnelller made it into the top five for the first time.
