“I lost the medal myself” That the disappointment of the Meransener after ungrateful fourth place was huge is more than understandable. During his analysis, Filehner identified the reason for missing the medal: “I lost the medal on Saturday.” After the first two races he was in 11th place and precious metal seemed out of reach. But on Sunday, Filehner was transformed, conjured up two magical runs on the Olympic track (in the second run he even set a new track record) and in the end missed out on a medal by just two thousandths of a second. “On Saturday I was too relaxed, I simply overslept the first two runs and made too many mistakes. The performance today couldn’t make up for that.”

A pity. Because in the end there would not only have been a medal, but possibly also victory, which went to the Austrian sensation David Gleirscher and missed the Fischnelller by 0,232 seconds. “I won’t let bad luck get away with me. I lost the medal myself. Now I have to clear my head and concentrate on the team competition,” said the tobogganer from Meransen.
