Double podium celebrations for South Tyrol's artificial track sledders

The Luge World Cup in Sigulda, Latvia, concluded with the sprints on Sunday afternoon. There were two South Tyrolean podium places to celebrate.

Emanuel Rieder and Simon Kainzwaldner are celebrating their second podium finish this winter. The two South Tyroleans came third in the sprint and were only beaten by Bots/Plume (Latvia) and the Germans Wendl/Artl. The second double-seater duo from South Tyrol, Ludwig Rieder/Lukas Gufler, took 11th place on Sunday.

Won the women's doubles competition Andrea Voetter and Marion Oberhofer the sprint. They prevailed ahead of Egle/Kipp (Austria) and Eitberger/Schirmer from Germany. Jessica Degenhardt and Cheyenne Rosenthal, however, were eliminated and therefore did not collect any points for the overall World Cup.

Vötter/Oberhofer before overall World Cup victory

Before the last World Cup weekend, which will take place again in Sigulda next weekend, Vötter/Oberhofer are clearly in the lead with 895 points ahead of Eitberger/Schirmer (801) and Degenhartdt/Rosenthal (795). The second large crystal ball in a row seems to be just a formality.
