The two South Tyroleans, who have so far reached the podium in 5 of 6 World Cup races and were even able to win 2, also came up trumps in the 7th race of the season: In Sigulda, Latvia, Vötter/Oberhofer tobogganed at the World Cup on Saturday, which was also counted as the European Championship, confidently in 1st place.

The people from Völs and Rodengo achieved the best time in both runs and were 0,501 seconds faster than the Latvian duo Anda Upite and Sanija Ozolina. Bronze went to the German lugers Jessica Degenhard and Cheyenne Rosenthal (+0,0558). A total of 8 doubles took part in the World Cup, 6 of them from Europe.

Women's or mixed teams have virtually no chance against the physically stronger men. This season, a separate women's doubles competition was launched for the first time. This discipline will also be on the program at the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan/Cortina.
