Junior World Cup: Malleier races to the podium

Fabian Malleier from Lana raced to second place on his toboggan and was only beaten by the German Paul Heider, who ultimately prevailed with a lead of 2 seconds. Malleier was consistent throughout the entire race, took second place after the first run and was able to confidently consolidate this position in the second run. For a long time in Sigulda it even looked like the South Tyroleans would be on the podium twice. After the first run, Ivan Nagler was in 3rd place. Nagler also aimed for the top 3 in the second run, had his sights set on the podium with excellent split times, but lost valuable time in the final part and ended up in 9th place . The third South Tyrolean in the group, Leon Felderer, finished the race just one place behind Nagler in 10th place. He thus confirmed his position from the first run, in which he also secured the last place in the top ten. Lukas Gufler, on the other hand, secured 24th place, almost three seconds behind winner Paul Heider.

Women: Oberhofer with top 10 placement Marion Oberhofer gave the women a feeling of success. Still in 9th place in the first round, Oberhofer threw everything into the balance in her second appearance and placed herself in a respectable 6th final place. Hanna Niederkofler was also at the start in Sigulda – she finished in 13th place.

Double not in use However, the double Felix Schwarz and Lukas Gufler had to forego their participation because the former had to take his journeyman's exam at the weekend. At their season debut in Lillehammer a week ago, the two doubles were able to celebrate their first victory.
