Junior World Championships: Silver for South Tyrol’s doubles team

The Junior World Championships in artificial track tobogganing are currently taking place in Lillehammer (NOR). South Tyrol's young athletes were able to win a medal on Friday.

Three medal decisions were on the program in Lillehammer on Friday. In the men's doubles there was a silver medal for South Tyrol. Philipp Brunner and Manuel Weissensteiner only had to admit defeat to the US duo Marcus Müller/Ansel Haugsjaa. The two recently won the gold medal at the YOG in South Korea. Raimonds Baltgalvis/Vitalijs Jegrovos from Latvia completed the podium.

In the women's singles, no South Tyrolean could achieve a top 10 place. Alexandra Oberstolz (13th) achieved the best result. Katharina Kofler finished the race in 15th place. The title went to Antonia Pietschmann (GER), ahead of Ebyr-Lee Susko (CAN) and Anka Jänicke (GER). The medals were also awarded in the women's doubles event. Here too, Germany secured gold (Elisa-Marie Storch/Pauline Patz). Second place went to Latvia's Viktorija Ziedina/Selina Zvilna, while Marie Riedl/Nina Lerch from Austria took bronze.

The men's singles and team competition will take place on Saturday.
