Malleier and Schwarz/Gufler win the Youth World Cup

The 18-year-old Malleier, who already finished second in Sigulda and Altenberg this year, celebrated his first win of the season in Oberhof, 92 thousandths ahead of Thomas Jänsch and 158 thousandths ahead of Moritz Bollmann. This victory was particularly important for Malleier because with the 100 points he gained, he overtook the Austrian Bastian Ernst Schulte in the overall World Cup standings. Malleier had 385 points, Schulte 374. Ivan Nagler, 16-year-old from Val Badia, fourth, 442 thousandths behind his teammate, also showed a strong performance. Nagler also took 4th place overall. Lukas Gufler came seventh, Latzfonser Leon Felderer tenth and Felix Schwarz 30th.

Felix Schwarz/Lukas Gufler prevailed in the doubles The Ultner Schwarz took revenge in the doubles. With Psairer Lukas Gufler he took second place in Oberhof and thus also the overall World Cup victory. Schwarz/Gufler were on the podium in all World Cup races this year. After the victory in Lillehammer, they came second in Igls, Altenberg and Oberhof and third in Königssee. Schwarz/Gufler, Malleier and Nagler will take part in the Youth Olympic Winter Games in Lillehammer in February, where they are among the top favorites. Marion Oberhofer, however, starts with the girls. The 16-year-old from Rodeneck didn't get past 19th place in Oberhof. Germany celebrated a double victory with Anna Berreiter and Josephine Mietzner, while the Austrian Hannah Prock came third. Hannah Niederkofler from Kiens was the best “Azzurra” in 13th place. Verena Hofer (21st), Nina Zöggeler (25th) and Sofie Falkensteiner (29th) ended up further back. In the overall World Cup, Kristina Shamova came out on top with 335 points, ahead of Berreiter with 324. Oberhofer finished 14th.

Malleier and Schwarz/Gufler win the Youth World Cup

The Youth World Cup for artificial track luge ended on Saturday in Oberhof with a South Tyrolean triumph. Fabian Malleier from Völlan won the overall singles, while the duo Felix Schwarz/Lukas Gufler won the doubles.
