Difficult start to the season for South Tyrol's luge athletes - UPDATE

Gruber was, somewhat surprisingly, the fastest of the South Tyrolean quartet. The 19-year-old showed two solid runs and ended up in twelfth place. Dominik Filehner was three positions behind Gruber. The Mühlbacher was only in 27th place after a faulty first round, but improved to 15th place with the best running time in the decision. Fischlerler was still not completely satisfied with his performance. His cousin Kevin Filehner came 19th, Emanuel Rieder had to settle for 28th place.

Johannes Ludwig won in Winterberg. The German won with a time of 1:44.732 minutes, relegating the Russian Roman Repilow (+0.189 seconds) to second place. Ludwig's compatriot Andi Langenhahn (+0.245) completed the podium.

Germany's sledders cannot be beaten - not even in the Sprint World Cup In each of the six competitions that took place in Winterberg this weekend, a German athlete stood on the highest podium at the end of the race. In the Sprint World Cup there was a success for Felix Loch in the men's race and for Dajana Eitberger in the women's race - while Eggert/Benecken triumphed in the doubles race.

South Tyrol's tobogganers had nothing to do with the decision in the sprint competitions either. Theo Gruber came tenth as the best “Azzurro” among men, while Dominik Filehner took 13th place. In the doubles, Ludwig Rieder/Patrick Rastner achieved eighth place (Oberstolz/Gruber were 15th), in the women's field Sandra Robatscher also did not get past 15th and last place.

At the first World Cup stage for artificial track luge in Winterberg, Germany, the men's single-seater competition was on the program on Sunday. The start of the season didn't go as planned for South Tyrol's skid racer: Theo Gruber took twelfth place as the best “Azzurro”.
