Zöggeler cannot be stopped in Königssee either – Rainer in third place

With a dream run in the first round, Zöggeler ensured clear conditions from the start and impressively demonstrated to the competition that his supremacy cannot be shaken at the moment. In his second trip, the exceptional athlete from Völlan, who celebrated his 37th birthday in Königssee the day before yesterday, took no risks and wrapped up his 53rd World Cup victory.

The Russian Albert Demchenko had to settle for second place despite a very strong second run. With Reinhold Rainer from Jaufental, a second South Tyrolean made it to the podium. After finishing second in the first run, Rainer set the fifth best time in the second run and was able to fend off the attack from fourth-placed German David Möller. In the end, Rainer was 0,409 seconds behind Zöggeler.

David Mair from Meransen took 867th place, 9 thousandths behind, the young Mühlbacher Domink Filehner came 13th (+1.396 seconds).

The Italian national team also climbed onto the podium in the final team competition. Sandra Gasparini, Armin Zöggeler and the Oberstolz/Gruber duo took third place behind Germany and Austria. Zöggeler was also the fastest in this race, Oberstolz/Gruber had the second best time.
