Zöggeler gives himself a present: Second in Königssee - UPDATE

After a good time and second place in the first round, Armin Zöggeler also showed a consistent performance in the second round, in constant rain at Königssee, and defended his position from the surprisingly strong Swiss Gregory Carigiet. He crossed the finish line with a lead of 74 thousandths. After his 56th World Cup victory in Park City and the 15th Italian championship title, Zöggeler achieved his third success within just a few weeks. His form ahead of Sochi is already good.

In Königssee, only the Bavarian local hero and reigning world champion Felix Loch was faster than the Völlaner. After two almost error-free runs and a new track record, he won with a commanding lead of 0,863 seconds over the competition.

At the end of the World Cup stage in Königssee, the Azzurri achieved another podium finish in the team relay. Sandra Gasparini, Zöggeler and the duo Ludwig Rieder/Patrick Rastner clocked a total time of 2:43,681. They took third place behind the teams from Germany and Canada.

Great comeback from Firiegeller

In addition to Zöggeler, another South Tyrolean almost climbed onto the podium: newcomer Dominik Fischnelller, after his eighth place in the first run, gained position by position and made it to fourth place (+0,958). Veteran David Mair also made it into the top ten, recording the tenth best time. Emanuel Rieder, however, took 13th place. After six races, Loch leads the overall standings with 485 points, ahead of Zöggeler (421) and Filehner (415).

One day after his 40th birthday, the toboggan king from Völlan once again demonstrated his liveliness on the ice track. At the World Cup in Königssee he reached the podium for the 102nd time (!).
